Food License Registration in India

A Complete Guide to FSSAI Registration

What is a Food License?

A Food License is mandatory for any business involved in food manufacturing, processing, storage, distribution, or sale in India. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issues this license to ensure food safety standards and quality control. Registering for an FSSAI food license enhances business credibility and consumer trust.

Types of FSSAI Food Licenses

  • FSSAI Basic Registration: For small food businesses with an annual turnover of up to ₹12 lakh.
  • FSSAI State License: For medium-sized businesses with an annual turnover between ₹12 lakh to ₹20 crore.
  • FSSAI Central License: For large businesses with an annual turnover of over ₹20 crore or businesses involved in import/export, e-commerce, and large-scale manufacturing.
