What is FSSAI ?

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. FSSAI provides food license to every food business in India. FSSAI is responsible for setting standards for food. The authority is established under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

FSSAI issues 3 license based on the nature of food business and turnover:

  • Registration: For Turnover less than ₹12 Lakh
  • State License: For Turnover between ₹12 Lakh to ₹20 Crore
  • Central License: For Turnover above ₹20 Crore

Documents Required for FSSAI License

For basic FSSAI Registration

  1. Passport size photograph
  2. Identity Proof (PAN Card)
  3. Address Proof (Aadhaar Card, Passport, DL)
  4. Address proof of the place of business (Electricity Bill along with Rent Agreement, if any)

For State and Central FSSAI License

  1. Passport size photograph
  2. Identity Proof (PAN Card)
  3. Address Proof (Aadhaar Card, Passport, DL)
  4. List of Food Category
  5. Layout Plan
  6. List of equipment
  7. NOC form Municipality
  8. Master Documents, if company (COI, MOA, AOA, List of Directors)
  9. Water Test Report
